Program Description
The Lead, Learn, and Achieve (LLA) initiative focuses on the holistic student and extends beyond academic achievement. This initiative offers high school students opportunities to engage in leadership activities, learn and practice social and emotional skills that promote student wellness, and help students achieve success by empowering them to think creatively and leverage their knowledge, talents, and use of technology to develop innovative solutions to everyday problems. By leading, learning, and achieving, students benefit from healthy emotional and academic growth and thought-leadership that leads to successful outcomes in the areas of leadership, academics, wellness, and entrepreneurship.
Program Objectives
Leadership - To help students practice self-efficacy and take on leadership roles that help them inspire others to achieve their goals through good habits, service-learning, and participation in collaborative experiences.
Wellness - To help students focus on their physical, mental, and emotional well-being to them develop and practice healthy habits that promote self-care and care for others in their communities, families, and schools.
Entrepreneurship - To expose students to learning experiences that foster creativity, and innovation, and help them demonstrate ingenuity by engaging in problem-solving activities and ideation to help them turn their innovative ideas into businesses, technological advances, and other ideas that help solve problems.
Academics - To help students achieve success beyond the classroom by empowering them to apply academic knowledge to everyday life and social problems through creativity and leveraging their knowledge, talents, and use of technology to solve problems.
Program Requirements
Must be enrolled in a participating school district or have a membership with a community partner
Must be a high school student enrolled in a participating school district in Calhoun County, or surrounding counties, or have a membership with a community partner (i.e., Boys & Girls Club of East Central Alabama or YMCA).
Must be able to participate in at least one college tour per year
Must be willing to volunteer with the Anniston Community Education Foundation as a youth or peer mentor
